Summary
- You can use the site without an account and without giving your name.
- The site uses Google Analytics to count visits and page views. Google Analytics sets cookies. The site runs no advertising scripts.
- The only form is the suggest an update form. Your email address on it is optional.
- Business listings include practitioner names and business contact details taken from business websites and public map listings.
- We do not sell personal information.
If you use the suggest an update form
We store:
- what the update is about and your message
- your email address, if you give one
- the listing and page the request relates to
- your browser’s user agent (browser and device type)
- the date and time of the request
To limit repeated submissions, the server keeps a one-way hash of your IP address in memory for up to 10 minutes. It is not written to the database.
We use the request to check and correct the listing, and your email address only to ask a follow-up question about it. Do not include health information or other sensitive details in the message. Requests are kept for [retention period, to confirm].
If you email us
We keep your email and our reply to answer your question and keep a record of it.
Information stored in your browser
These features save data in your own browser. It is not sent to us, and you can clear it in your browser settings.
- Shortlist: up to three providers you add for comparison (name, suburb and the service you were viewing), kept in local storage until you remove them or clear site data.
- Back to results: the last results page you viewed, kept in session storage for the current tab and ignored after six hours.
When you open a comparison, the providers being compared appear in the page address, which is sent to our server like any other page request.
Technical data and third parties
The site is hosted by [Hosting provider and data storage location, to confirm]. As with any website, the hosting provider receives your IP address, browser user agent and the pages you request, and may keep these in request logs for operating and securing the service.
The site uses Google Analytics 4, a Google service, to measure visits. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies named _ga and _ga_*, which last up to two years, and records the pages you view, how you reached the site, your device and browser type, and your approximate location. Google receives your IP address with each request. We see this information only as totals and do not use it to identify you. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can block it with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.
Search suggestions send the text you type to our server to return matches. The text is not stored by the site.
If you choose “Show map” on a results page, your browser loads map images directly from OpenStreetMap’s servers, which receive your IP address. See the OpenStreetMap site for its terms.
Links to business websites, booking pages, Google Maps directions and the Ahpra register take you to sites with their own privacy policies.
Personal information in business listings
Listings can show the names and roles of practitioners and the phone numbers and street addresses of businesses. We also store email addresses published on business websites; these are not shown on the site. We collect this information from the business’s own website and from public map listings, not from the individuals directly. Each listing shows the pages its information came from and the date they were checked.
We use this information to show what each business publishes about its services and staff. A practitioner’s protected title, such as “specialist” or “surgeon”, is shown only where the Ahpra register confirms it.
If you are named in a listing, you can ask us to correct or remove your details through the suggest an update form or by email to [Privacy contact email, to confirm].
Disclosure and storage
We disclose personal information only to the service providers that host the site and its database, to Google through Google Analytics as described above, or where the law requires it. Data is stored with [Hosting provider and data storage location, to confirm]. We take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, loss and unauthorised access; admin areas are password protected.
Access, correction and complaints
To ask what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to make a privacy complaint, email [Privacy contact email, to confirm]. We will respond within [number, to confirm] days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Postal address: [Legal entity name, to confirm], [Registered address, to confirm]. Other contact details are on the contact page.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy before the site starts collecting any new kind of personal information. The date at the top shows the latest version.
